DIY: Easy Instagram Collage

Hello all!

I have been loving the Instagram collages on Pinterest and was wondering how to make one for weeks now. I have a million pictures on my Instagram of me and my boyfriend's dog, Dukie. I wanted to make a collage of all of the pictures I have of Duke and give it to Shane on his Birthday on Saturday. I am not good at using Photoshop and other programs like that, which many of the tutorials used to make their collage. I have used Picasa for a long time now and love it. It is super easy to use and best of all... it is FREE. Click here to download it for yourself. I made a folder for the pictures I wanted to use. I went on my computer and used Statigram (a web viewer for Instagram, but you can use the actual Instagram site too) and saved all of the pictures I wanted to use to the folder. Then I imported the folder to Picasa and clicked "Make a collage" and edited how I wanted it. I made an 8x10 collage. Then I saved it and uploaded it to the Walmart site and ordered an 8x10 print of the collage. You could also print this at home to save money, I just don't have a printer at my apartment.

Easy peasy!

Here are the settings of my collage:

Here is what the collage looks like:

1 hour 8x10's from Walmart are only $2.84. Cheap! Tomorrow I am going to pick it up and get a white frame for it. I can already tell it is going to be a great and easy but thoughtful gift! I will post pictures of the final gift tomorrow.

DIY Coat Rack made out of pallet wood and dresser knobs

Hello All!
I recently made a coat rack out of pallet wood and fancy dresser knobs.

Supplies:

  • Piece of wood (I got mine from a pallet in my mom's barn, but keep your eyes open pallets are EVERYWHERE.)
  • Dresser knobs (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby, the average price was between $2.99-$5.99. When I went they were 50% off, so wait to make sure they are on sale! You can also find fancy dresser knobs at Anthropologie and World Market, but they might be pricey.)
  • Drill
  • Marker
  • Rotary cutter or metal cutter (I used my brother-in-law's metal cutter in his shop.)

How I did it:
First, I marked with a permanent marker where I wanted my knobs. Then I went out to my brother-in-law's shop and cut down my knobs with a metal cutter (you can use a rotary cutter) so they would fit in the wood and not stick out on the other side. Once I cut all of my knobs down to size, I drilled holes in the wood where I marked with the marker and then stuck my knobs in the holes. After that I put hooks on the back of the wood and hung it up! I love it!

Here is what it looks like in my apartment.

DIY St. Patrick's Day Wreath

Here is my St. Patrick's Day Wreath! I was inspired by Melanie's tutorial I saw on Pinterest. You can see her tutorial here. First, I went to Hobby Lobby and found 5 different green fabrics that I liked and got 1/2 a yard of each. (I had enough fabric to make two wreaths.) I also bought ribbon for $3.99 and used my 40% off coupon. This craft cost me about $15, but keep in mind, I had enough fabric to make two. One for me and my friend Kelsey.

Tools:
Fabric
Scissors
Wire hanger
Ribbon
Wire Cutters to cut off top of hanger

Cut strips of fabric 1 to 1.5 inches wide and 8-9 inches long. If I were to do this project over, I would've made the strips shorter so that the fabric does not flop over so much. Then start tying the ribbon onto the hanger. This part goes by fast if you have a friend making one with you and you can just chat while you tie or watch tv. I added a ribbon at the end. That's it! Easy and fun!

Plate holder as Cookbook holder

Hello All,
My sister, Cassie, had this great idea to use a plate holder as a cookbook holder...
Here is a picture of it in her house, you can visit their blog via this link or by clicking on the picture below.
I wanted to have one for my apartment, so I went to Hobby Lobby and got my plate holder for $10, (originally $19.99, it was on sale!!)
Here is mine in my apartment...
And another..

Cute right??? Great idea, Cass!

I bought this plant holder at Kirkland's on sale for $7.99 and am using it as a fruit basket because I have hardly any counter space in my tiny apartment!
